Attention Juniors: Apply for Youth Salute!
The PWC Youth Salute Council is now accepting nominations of students who have displayed outstanding ability in leadership and academic achievement.  Nominees must be current members of the Junior class, have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average as of the end of their sophomore year and have held a leadership position in the last two years in a school, religious or community-sponsored organization.  Hylton may nominate 14 Juniors for the Youth Salute program.  Interested students who wish to apply should see Mrs. Covington in the Counseling office for further information and to obtain a nomination packet.  The deadline for returning the completed packet is no later than Friday, October 24th.
Google Apps for Education FAQs
C.D. Hylton faculty and students are encouraged to use Google Apps for Education as their cloud-based computing solution. Click here for more information regarding this service, including security of student data and how accounts are monitored.
ASVAB Interpretation Presentation
An ASVAB Interpretation Presentation will be held on Monday, October 27 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Score Sheets will be available for students who took the test in September.
Driver's Education Student/Parent Meeting
There will be a Driver's Education Student/Parent Meeting on Wednesday, October 29th at 7pm at Hylton High School.  Both parent and student need to be present to receive credit.  Please arrive early; doors close at 7pm. If you are not able to attend this meeting, there will be two more meetings hosted at Hylton as well as several meetings hosted throughout the county.  You only need to attend one meeting. Click here to see all meeting dates/locations.


Night of Stars Auditions
Hylton's Literary Magazine and Journalism Club are proud to announce "Night of Stars" auditions.  Auditions will be held on October 21st, 23rd, and 28th from 2:20 - 4:00 PM in Room E134.  Stop by Room E154 for a copy of the audition forms.  *"Night of Stars" is formerly known as "Coffee Night."  Click here for a flyer to print.
Senior Quotes
Attention Seniors: If you would like to submit a senior quote for the Yearbook, click here.  Quotes can be submitted between October 15th and November 15th.  Only one submission per student, and all submissions are subject to Administrative approval.

NHS Tutoring Begins Oct. 14th
Attention Students: NHS Tutoring begins on October 14th and will be held from 2:15 - 3:15 PM in the library. If you need help with Math or Science, come on Mondays/Thursdays. If you need help with English or Social Studies, come on Tuesdays. Click here for a flyer to print.
Class of 2018
On Wednesday, October 15th 660+ freshmen, lead by their class president, Miss Brenna Nonaka, made a commitment to C. D. Hylton Senior High School and themselves to graduate in 2018. During this 2nd annual activity, students were given information to help them get acclimated to the school, resources and central office staff. Mrs. Carolyn Custard, former principal now director of student services, in addition to former C. D. Hylton students turned PWCS employees, discussed how important it is to graduate and be a positive role model for future freshmen to come.
PWC Youth Leader of the Year
C.D. Hylton would like to congratulate Anna Stapor who was recognized as the PWC Youth Leader of the Year and was awarded an all-expense paid trip to the annual national NCYL leadership conference "Town Meeting on Tomorrow" in October.

Click here to view a map with the two student drop-off locations. As a friendly reminder, if you are dropping students off at Drop-off #1, please be sure to pull through to Door #4 (or as close as traffic permits) to prevent intersections from being blocked.
High School Program Information Nights
Mark your calendars!  On Thursday, November 13th and Tuesday, January 13th, Hylton High School is hosting it's information night(s) for all students, parents and guardians interested in the different high school programs we will offer in 2015-16. These include the Center for International Studies and Languages, the TV Production program and the Auto Tech program. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Specific locations for the different programs will be listed as you enter the building. The county-wide on-line application process will be explained at both events.
Hylton nominates two outstanding educators for Teacher of the Year awards!
Congratulations, Mr. Jason Fox and Mr. Tommy Tutwiler, for being nominated for the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award and the Dale City Teacher of the Year Award! If you would like to write a letter of support for one or both of these teachers, please email Mrs. Meg Holt at holtmh@pwcs.edu. We would love to hear from former students, current students, parents, colleagues and members of the community. For a list of criteria for both awards and for pictures, please click here. All letters of support are due by October 24.

Attention Students: If you would like to begin using your C.D. Hylton Google Apps account, click here to view a video that will show you how to login.  Once logged in, click here to view a video about using your account responsibly and effectively.  All students are expected to use these school Google Accounts responsibly and effectively.  You can login for the first time from school or from home.
